Barcelona is a huge city, so unless you're staying here a long time, you'll only see a fraction of the city. That might be okay.
The transportation infrastructure is fantastic. There are very few gaps in the coverage and often metro lines crisscross in ways that make it possible to get to the same place in multiple ways. The multi-day pass cards are kind of fragile, so consider buying them for one or two days at a time, not for the maximum length, just in case.
A lot of the major tourist attractions are overrated. If I went back, I think I would spend more time exploring the city without a goal in mind and seeing more niche sights.
That said, do try and see the Museu Marítim de Barcelona.

Barcelona is amazing!
Barcelona is amazing! Some of my favorite things are the skate spots, like the parks, but also lots of street spots.
The Raval area has some great vintage stores, indy shops and cool bars and nice restaurants. For Mexican food and great cocktails check out El Pachuco. Carrer Joaquin Costa is great for food/snacks and drinks.
If you're a picky or vegan eater you might want to do some research before you go into a restaurant, or ask the staff nicely for vegan options.
Vegan find of the week: Vrutal in Poblenau, great food and super friendly staff.
The people are super friendly and I made new (skate) friends instantly.
If you fly into Barcelona El Prat you can go to the city with a shuttle bus, the metro, train or a taxi. I found the cheapest way is to take the metro (€5,50 for a single ticket), next to cheapest is the bus (€7,25) and then the taxi, which is probably around €25-€50 into the center.

Our first time in Barcelona was a very pleasant experience. The town is beautiful, the sights outstanding, the streets very clean (although marred by the giant rubbish bins on every street corner) and the people gracious and friendly.

It’s a fun lively place to visit with loads of cultural attractions, the beach, shopping, great food and drink in friendly restaurants. The only draw back is it’s popularity because the most famous places to visit are quickly sold out.

There are so many beautiful places to see that it would take weeks to see it all. I was so glad I got to see the Palau Música which is an outstanding venue. I wish we could have attended a musical performance there. And the tapas are so delicious that I am going to try to make some at home. Food is all fabulous! Barcelona is a wonderful adventure and I can’t wait to go back.

Two days wasn't enough time for us.
Two days wasn't enough time for us.
The Ramblas district was lovely, vibrant, and elegant with restaurants and bars easily available. The food was tourist orientated but authentic.
The Gothic quarter was the cultural centre. It had a number of art exhibitions including Banksy, and an extensive zpicasso collection. Fabulous. It was here we watched a Flamenco show.
The hop on hop off open-topped tourist bus is brilliant and we spent two hours travelling around the city.
There is such to see and do.
The Sagrad Familia was stunning and Gaudi's vision was evident on so many buildings. Having the facility to book ahead is imperative. We also booked ahead for our other activities, including the tourist bus.
Taxis are plentiful, and the train station is easily navigated. We arrived via the bullet train which travelled at 300 km. It was comfortable and convenient.
Barcelona is a fabulous city and I look forward to returning.
We booked this place last minute as our flight home was cancelled and we had a horrible experience the night before relying on the airline to book hotels. So we decided to go into Barcelona and book a last minute deal ourselves. We got an AMAZING deal in the suite on the top floor with a private roof top patio. Room was very cool. A more masculine/dark feel to it which was fine for us (two men) the patio was huge on the roof top. Over all couldn't have asked for a better spot for our bonus two nights in Spain.
Location in the city centre with good connection to the airport (metro, bus), shops and famous shopping street behind the corner. Night life few steps from hotel.
Top services in all aspects! Stuff was super friendly, specially team from reception will deserve extra bonus as they are top stars! we've had free upgrade to larger room, welcome drink and free champagne :) specially Emir (hope I remember correctly) was asking always whether we are satisfied and he did his best even calling us via hotel phone.
The hotel is near the city center and all public transportation stations, including subway, bus and airport bus. It’s really convenient and safe. All places are super clean, modern and good-smell. The breakfast is so good that you can have everything you want as a buffet! All the staff are really friendly and kind. It was a heavy rainy day and the reception gave us a umbrella for free. Thanks a million! I’d like to recommend to anyone who wants to book a place in Barcelona! It’s worth it!
Very friendly staff! Luggage storage room available. Nice city center location (on the Rambla), within walking distance of a lot of sights and close to the metro / buses that can take you almost everywhere else.
We picked this option because it was more affordable than most of the other hotels in the area. Barcelona is quite expensive, so it was nice to save some money on accommodation. Since we spent most of our time in the city, we didn't feel like we missed out on anything.
First of all, I would like to thank the friendly staff for a pleasant vacation. On vacation, the two most important things to me are a clean bathroom and a comfortable bed. This hotel lived up to those expectations. The location of the hotel is ideal, a few minutes' walk from the metro station and the shopping center, a quiet part of Barcelona. The staff was really wonderful, we got a map of Barcelona and all the tips to get around the city.
Staff were incredibly friendly. I came in very late, but staff was able to advice me, greeted me with great energy and support me with the questions.
Safe and amazing location.
Great facilities.
Best hostel I have been!!!
Honestly this was highlight of my trip. Compared to staff in other proper hotels in Spain rude and staff of this hostel were the best people ever!!! Honestly would come back again 100%!
Everything is excellent specially the front desk gentleman tall with glasses, his warm welcome saved 2 girls’ lives, and tips for the city are helpful. Also the balcony spark my stay. I strongly recommend the market only 1 minute walk away ( go out of the hotel and turn right), there are jamon and fruits with good quality and fair price, it is almost the best market during our 3 weeks trip in Spain.
Host - he waited for us even thou we had a late flight and there was a strike at airport and we meeded to wait gor our luggage
Location - close to thw Sagrada like 15 minute walk, it can be considered that you are in the city center
Barcelona - 😊
F1 - We went mainly there because of the F1 weekend , and that was a great experiance, I would recommend anyone that loves F1
This was a lovely hotel on a quiet street very close to the Arc de Triomf in Barcelona. The bed in our room was heavenly. The morning breakfast included just about anything you could want to eat and the staff was welcoming and kind. We came to find out that Catalonia is a chain of hotels in Spain. This one felt more like a boutique hotel. We enjoyed our stay very much.
Lovely hotel away from the city centre but with easy access to all attractions by Metro. Close to a nice beach and bike paths were everywhere in this area of Barcelona. Our room was small but quiet and the beds very comfortable which was great after a long series of flights. Excellent breakfast for an additional cost.
In the Hotel you have everything..Gym, Pool,..outside the Hotel there’s a lot of Restaurants, one can easily access the Bus and Train going to city center, Beach nearby and one can easily do jogging early in the morning in the Strand of Barcelona Beach, like what we did.
They changed Towels everyday! Prima!
The hotel is perfectly located in the city center. The staff are nothing but helpful and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and ensure you have everything you need. The rooms are modern and very comfortable, and I would definitely stay here again if I come back to Barcelona!
The staff was super nice, especially the male receptionist (Carlos?). The hotel is in a quiet area with many local people. Not too many tourists. It is a great place to stay if this is not your first trip to Barcelona. Easy access to the city center and beach with buses and metro.
The room was very clean and the bed was extra large and comfy. The hotel is very close to the metro and bus stations which allows you to go wherever you want and also is near the city center. Very easy to arrive also from the airport (El prat).
Best choice!
Everything. location was perfect, very close to city center with taxi or metro. staff is very accommodating, will go above and beyond. upgraded us for honeymoon. overall one of the best stays I’ve ever had at a hotel in all my years of traveling
The hotel is great. What I loved the most:
- the position, very calm and beautiful district of Barcelona, outside of the biggest rush but still near city center - we were moving mostly walking
- quality-price ratio
- friendly staff
Very nice hotel and room in a residential area of Barcelona. Walking distance to La Sagrada Familia which is nice and restaurants outside the touristy area. Metro stop about 4 minutes walk which made it nice to get to the City Centre.
Everything was nice and beautiful.
Staff was great. Well worth the price.
I went around spain, tried different hotels, hostels etc.
Hotel barcelona center was my favorite.
