It was our first visit to Ambleside and we weren’t disappointed. We had a meal at Luigi’s which was amazing. The staff were very friendly and I would definitely recommend this restaurant and I am a fussy eater.
The weather was glorious so we had a few drinks in the beer garden at the Royal Oak pub.
Ambleside was about a 15minute walk from our accommodation, Windermere Rooms at the Wateredge Inn.

The area itself is amazing, loads of pubs, bars and restaurants around all offering various meals, I would book in advance for most of them to avoid disappointment.
Pitch & putt really good or mini golf for families.
plenty of walks around and further if you desire.
regular bus service to other areas of the lakes.
Location, hotel reception was very helpful, restaurant was very good with a doggie menu which I found was a nice touch, breakfast had a good selection and the Skelwith grill was exceptional. My room was comfortable but located on the top floor were I found the stairs hard for me to navigate at my age. Furniture is quite dated but understandable for a budget hotel. overall I rate the hotel four star.
We loved our room - it was so spacious, lovely and warm. the bed was super comfy and the shower was incredible! Super dog friendly, we had a bowl and treats waiting for us in the room. Nice and quiet location but only a minute from the town and 10 min or so walk to the lake front. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Ambleside Townhouse, and we would definitely stay again!
Amazing. Our room was exceptional, big comfy bed, spotless and clean, lovely bathroom with huge soft white towels. The staff were very friendly and efficient and the hotel was in easy reach of Ambleside and the lakeside. Nice huge patio at the front with plenty of seating. We had a lovely stay and would definitely recommend the Fisherbeck and we’ll definitely be back.
Staff were wonderful. Room was beautiful and really spacious! Breakfast included option made it amazing value for money. The breakfast running 30 mins beyond check out time really helps in the morning! The use of the car park until the next guests arrive is such a brilliant touch that costs the hotel nothing but would really encourage me to book again!
The hotel was beautiful and decorated to a very high standard. It's location was perfect and a 5 minute walk into Ambleside. We didn't eat in the hotel but the breakfast was amazing, one of the nicest breakfasts we have had on our trip. Our room was lovely and had everything we wanted. Would definitely recommend staying at Rothay Manor.
Great central location in beautiful Ambleside with parking which is a real bonus. The rooms were spacious, nicely decorated and very clean, bathroom was immaculate! The staff were all friendly and very helpful, especially Emily who really went out of her way to help us out! Thank you! really good breakfast too!
Lovely location, very central to Ambleside and a short drive to Windermere. The property was very dog friendly, and provided towels to dry down muddy paws. Beautifully decorated rooms that were immaculate. The room was lovely and quiet, no disturbances.
Lovely hotel with an amazing view of Windermere. Had a dog friendly lake view room which was spotlessly clean and the bed was really comfy. The view from the room was perfect.
The staff were really friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend it.
Ideally situated close to Ambleside with parking. Hosts very welcoming and accommodating. Breakfast was well organised and plenty of choice available. Rooms were good size with lots of nice little touches.
