Known for its sandy beaches and good nightlife, Bournemouth is a popular seaside resort on the Dorset coast between Poole and Christchurch.
The town is centred on the Bourne River, running downhill towards the sea by Bournemouth Pier. This pier looks back towards a promenade lined with beach huts at the foot of grassy cliffs. The promenade continues west to Poole, while a road goes east to neighbouring Boscombe, where anglers often fish from its pier. Overlooking it is a clifftop road housing some Bournemouth hotels with sea views.
Booking.com also offers hotels near the BIC – Bournemouth International Centre in the West Cliff area. This convention centre and music venue is a short walk from the Art Deco Pavilion Theatre, located next to the Lower Gardens. In this popular city park is the Bournemouth Eye, a tethered hot air balloon that offers far-reaching views.
At the park’s top end the river disappears under a large square, then emerges in the Central Gardens. Overlooking these gardens is the Victorian town hall, which used to be one of several spa hotels in Bournemouth. Opposite is a Grade I-listed church, and St Peter’s Church has the grave of Mary Shelley, author of ‘Frankenstein’.
On the outskirts of town, near 4 golf courses and the Castlepoint Shopping Centre, is Bournemouth Airport.

Lots of interesting places to visit and things to do. There were several good restaurants, we liked Zizzy’s best, for range and quality of food and service

I love Bournemouth, my grandparents lived in Queens Park and I spent most of my childhood holidays there. The beaches are lovely and clean with safe swimming and our dog was able to run in the permitted areas.
The grandchildren loved the climbing centre on the Pier.

Lovely buzzing seaside town with great amenities and safe beaches. Food very expensive at seaside areas, hard to go economy with kids in tow. Bournemouth pier is always lovely - really good toilet facilities at the beach - would be helpful to have some water taps at beach/beachfront juncture to wash off.

I read reviews of Bournemouth on Tripadvisor before I went...
I read reviews of Bournemouth on Tripadvisor before I went but after I had booked.
I had been many times in my youth, only living in The New Forest myself but this was a total culture shock.
The place has turned into an absolute dive, I could think of more choice words but they wouldn't get printed.
I wanted to go to the shops as well as the beach but there doesn't seem to be any shops left, only foreign cafes/restaurants with dirty uncared for frontage. I struggled even to find a decent coffee shop.
I went in the park with the aviarys but even these seemed grimy.
Eventually I gave up and got on a bus to Boscombe which isn't the nicest of places but at least has a few shops and a lovely looking arcade with finally, a great italian coffee shop.
I planned to treat myself to a nice meal but sadly couldn't find anywhere that looked nice and ended up in a basic cafe with egg and chips. Nothing wrong with egg and chips but I wanted something a bit special for a change.
The beach at Bournemouth was visited in the evening and this is the only thing that seems to have stayed the same.
I will be looking to visit anywhere else but Bournemouth next time.
The owners are lovely and very helpful. Located one street back from the beach and within walking distance from Bournemouth pier and centre.
The room, whilst very basic, was clean and tidy and had all we needed for our short stay.
Plenty of tea and coffee etc, comfortable double bed, free WiFi and small TV.
Small en suite bathroom with towels provided and a nice hot shower..
This is an 'Old school' hotel with the values and courtesy to match.
Great to see .
Will definitely use again.
Thank you.
Gary.
I had a very pleasant stay by the sea. The apartment was spotlessly cleaned and well equipped. My first experience booking a whole apartmnet rather than a hotel. It was compact but absolutly spot on for my needs. Free parking space was an unexpected bonus for the town centre location.
Thank you again for your help and letting me book in the last minute. I will most likely be back with my family in the summer to enjoy Bournemouth Beach.
This hotel is perfectly situated for an easy walk to music events at O2 Academy Bournemouth. The staff were very welcoming and efficient, the hotel was quiet even though many guests were staying there. The breakfast buffet manager was friendly and the food offering was very good with everything well laid out and to a very good standard. Good hot shower and beds were average but fine for a night. Free parking was great.
The room was bright, recently updated and comfortable. The location was very good, easy walking down to the beach and boardwalk in Bournemouth as well as to restaurants and other entertainment. The parking was right behind the hotel. I loved that the hotel was dog friendly even though we didn't have our dog with us. There was live music in the lounge in the evening.
Easily the best hotel that I have stayed in when I visit Bournemouth and I've stayed in quite a few different hotels over the last few months. Great value for money, large rooms, really comfortable beds and facilities. A five minute walk from the town centre and the beach. The staff are all really friendly and helpful. I've stayed here twice and will be booking again.
Closure of the Heathlands Hotel resulted in us being transferred to The Royal Bath Hotel, Bournemouth. In view of our late rearrangements we were fortunate to get an upgrading to a fantastic room which overlooked the pier. Our stay was excellent in all respects so consequently have great pleasure in giving the hotel and staff a 5* rating. Bryan and Lynn Pickett.
Everything was amazing and comfortable, the lovely gentleman at the reception was extremely accommodating and kind, and even helped us chill our wine and brought us wine glasses to our room.
The breakfast next door was one of the best I've had at a hotel in the UK, and the staff was also amazing. All in all 10 out of 10, we will come back for a longer stay!
Very friendly and competent staff. Checking in and out was easy and quick. Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast buffet was very good. The hotel is in a very good location as it is really very close to the beach and about 30min walking distance from the train station.
The hotel is decorated to a high standard with a lovely garden, restaurant and common area. The staff are friendly and professional. The breakfast was a good price and enjoyable. The hotel is in a good location for both the beach and the centre of Bournemouth.
good location, they have a nice lounge with entertainment, its proper value for money, especially when you only need the room to sleep in. its the first time ive seen a clean kettle in a hotel. the bathroom floor could be improved but its overall a great stay
Hotel was lovely and clean and staff were very accommodating, hotel has a vending machine for middle of the night needs but is also were served by being very close to shops and town, while also being close to beach.
Perfect location, easy parking and friendly staff. My room was very clean and comfortable. I think that of the hotels I have stayed in in Bournemouth, this has been one of the best and I will definitely return.
Lovely hotel. Staff were friendly and the hotel is in a great location. Near town and walkable to the beach front. Free parking was also a bonus as it is expensive to park in Bournemouth.
This is our fourth stay. We don't stay anywhere else in Bournemouth. The Indoor swimming pool and Jacuzzi are lovely after a day at the beach. Great location. Comfortable clean hotel.
The hotel was clean, tidy and comfortable although a little dated. Staff were great. Hotel is pet friendly and has a great location with easy access to beach and central Bournemouth.
The staff were very friendly.
The room was nice with tea and coffee-making facilities.
The hotel location is convenient for Bournemouth City Centre with plenty of parking space.
Ideal hotel to be right in the centre of Bournemouth. By pier, beach, park and restaurants. Best to choose room with Sea View. All very comfortable. Staff helpful.
It's very close to beach and town centre with a variety of shops nearby.. it's's very quiet and a safe location from where you can comfortably discover Bournemouth.
